Hello again
See I am getting better, only a couple of weeks since my last blog.
Why the delay - well I am currently spending my free time creating new pieces in readiness for the Rotary Club of Google's 39th Annual Hobbies Exhibition which takes place this Saturday, 2nd March between 11am and 4pm.
I will be exhibiting my Powertex creations and hopefully chatting to a few people who may find my exhibits interesting enough to ask me about them. I will have a few pieces available to purchase on the day and will be taking commissions.
Of course the new pieces are currently being kept under wraps to be revealed on Saturday morning. There will be a few golden oldies with me and some truly magical new pieces, both in theme and design. And I'm hoping at least one piece will get people looking and thinking How did she do that.
So If you are in the area then please come along and say Hi and let me know your honest opinion. I delivery comment both positive and not so positive, after all art is in the eye of the beholder and what I think looks amazing may not float your boat as they say.

So here goes me trying to be a better blogger and re-launching the blog.
Since my last post so much has changed and I am now proud to be a Qualified Level One Powertex tutor.
So what does that mean I hear you ask?
Well it means that I can now help you release YOUR inner artist. And I truly believe we all have one. I mean I'm the girl who was told by her art tutor at 11 to make sure I brought homework for another subject to my compulsory art lesson and left to sit in the corner with the other non-artists while the rest of the class drew, painted and generally had fun.
I shouldn't complain as doing homework in art lessons meant I had more free time after school. But the downside was I did go through life thinking I had no talent for art.
That wasnt right. What I didn't have was a talent my then art tutor cared to find and explore.
It's taken many, many years for me to find my Inner Artist.
It's not conventional - you are never going to see my work hung in the Tate - well I don't expect you will. But that's not the point of art to me. To me art is about finding that part of yourself that is not quite the norm, that wants to follow it's own path and go with the flow.
Over the years I have tried a few mediums to express my Inner Artist with varying degrees of not only success but satisfaction. Some fell by the wayside after a good try, others were my companion and release at times of stress and distress and some have stayed on my journey and been joined by new and sometimes complimentary forms of art.
And it was while having fun with one of these, clay crafting, that I learned of Powertex. Well to be honest I overheard another crafter talking about it and it sounded amazing but then I went back to making my polymer clay figure and Powertex went to the back of my mind. All ideas of finding out more disappeared as I became more immersed in creating my clay figure. And it might have stayed that way had I not seen an advert of a crafting smelly channel for yes you guessed it Powertex. So I set the Sky to record and watched as Tracey the demonstrator uses this liquid medium to turn a jam jar and fabric into a fairy house. Yes I know it sounds quite bizarre but this liquid medium turned the fabric hard and allowed her to sculpt it into shapes and folds and curves that stayed in place.
I was hooked. I ordered the kit on sale and when it arrived began my Powertex journey. Over the next couple of years I ordered more and my collection of Fantasy Houses grew. I even tried it on a canvas and had my first piece of art to hang on my wall. And I was still hooked and watched every time the shows were on.
And then I saw a Facebook post about Tutor courses. The timing was pants, the live chat was on a night I was at work but I wanted to do it so got in touch and found could be given a code to watch at a later time. But I got up early and watched before I went to work and next day booked on the next course.
That was last May.
I have done a couple of workshops since then and have spent time trying out new ideas, working out timings and ironing out kinks so that I can set up a proper workshop timetable and pass on my love of this medium. A new grandchild also made an appearance last year which had to, by necessity, take priority for a few months but now all is well it's time to dust myself off and get on with holding workshops for any one out there who would love to give it a try but want that little push to know they can do it.
So new year, new me and new regular blog posts with piccys of my creations and details of my workshops and craft fairs where you can come along and find out all about Powertex yourself. I hope to see you soon.
